Is it possible to manually register a service ?

Yes, it is possible to register a service manually, it is a windows command. This command requires administration rights. The command details can be found here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc990289.aspx.
The following command creates the service for the Scriptura server.
sc create "Scriptura 7.3.2 x86 1 Server Service" binpath="C:\Program Files (x86)\Inventive_Designers\Scriptura Engage 7.3.2\ScripturaServerService.exe" DisplayName="Scriptura 7.3.2 Server Service, installation C:\Program Files (x86)\Inventive_Designers\Scriptura Engage 7.3.2" obj=".\Scriptura" password="Inv3nt!v3" depend=""
